peppermint oil & tea

Few days ago, I woke up with some stomach unease.
Since it was just slight discomfort, I ignored it thinking it will pass.

But within a few minutes there was intense pain in my stomach, with horrible cramping, shooting & stabbing pain in my abdomen.

The intensity and the speed at which it came took me by surprise.
I was shaking with the pain and was unable to even sit. The pain by now was shooting down to my rectum (sorry for the gross details).

After a few minutes of rolling in pain and crying out loud (yes literally)- I needed a remedy quick and fast acting.

Since I had no clue what was the cause of the pain, I could not take any appropriate medication. And going to the doctor was out of question as I was in too much pain to even sit.

My only thought at the time was to try peppermint essential oil on my tummy. And that is exactly what I did!

Since I have sensitive skin, i mixed a few drops of peppermint oil in coconut oil and rubbed it all over my tummy. Then took a heating pad an laid down.

The pain started to subside in a few minutes! Yes it was working 🙂

So are you wondering why peppermint?

Because peppermint is a digestive aid!
It slightly anesthetizes the mucous membranes & and gastro-intestinal tract.

Peppermint is known to be used for tummy troubles like indigestion, nausea, abdominal cramping, flatulence and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Besides this, peppermint is also helpful for chills, colic, diarrhea, headache and muscular spasms.
So this is one of those essential oils you should always stock up on.

Specially so if oral consumption of peppermint gives you a heart burn.
Then the best way to use peppermint is topically as an oil.

***The only caution here is that pregnant & nursing women should not to use this.
Peppermint may also interfere with iron absorption.

Now, if you frequently suffer from indigestion, I suggest you grab my free guide to beat indigestion naturally here.
