Green Juice

It’s been a hot summer this year, and the one thing I’m asked many times is ways to rehydrate yourself. Well water is the obvious choice for most, and rightly so.

I also suggest a fresh homemade veggie juice. It’s loaded with vitamins and minerals which fuel you at the cellular level. It replenishes your depleted micronutrients after strenuous exercise like hiking, biking, running or sports. It is ‘pure’ nutrition.

Besides, for those with low immunity, a weak digestion or certain age groups like kids, seniors and even pregnant women- it’s an excellent way to get all your nutrients.

So here is a Green Juice recipe we always make at our home and boosts us for the rest of the day/ evening. It’s a staple for when my son comes back from his soccer practice.

Vary the amount of ingredient quantity based on your taste, as you may prefer some tastes over others.

Ingredients:

  • Bunch of kale leaves
  • 7 celery stalks
  • 8 carrots (peeled)
  • 1 medium beet-root (optional)
  • 1 medium apple
  • 1″ piece of ginger root
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Directions:

  • Chop the ingredients to a size that will fit into your juicer feed.
  • Prepare the juice and add the turmeric powder in the end.

BONUS TIP:

  • Drink the juice preferably within half an hour of juicing to reduce the risk of oxidation of the micro-nutrients!

If you have any favorite variations…. I’d love to hear about it!
